Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Delicious Matcha Latte! Highly reccommended to buy. Not too sweet with nutty flavour. Got cakes also. Shop is a bit small, can come here if you are alone or with someone. There is also bench that you can sit outside overlooking the barista. Overall, I love the drink!"
"Mizu Mizu, an independent coffee shop in Kota Kinabalu is an absolute gem that perfectly captures the warmth and creativity of the local café scene. The place stand out not only for their fresh, thoughtfully prepared offerings but also for their welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at ease. What truly elevates the experience are the proprietor and proprietress — engaging, passionate, and genuinely invested in their craft. Their personal touch shines through in every detail, from the way they curate the menu to the conversations they share with guests. It’s rare to find cafés where the people behind the counter make the experience as memorable as the food and drinks, but that’s exactly what you get here. With fresh, vibrant menus and a heartfelt sense of hospitality, Mizu Mizu is a must-visit in Kota Kinabalu. It is not just a café, but a place where good food, good coffee, and good company come together beautifully."
"We had a fantastic cup of coffee with cake. The staff is super friendly. The burned cheesecake was melt in your mouth and not sweet (how we like it!). And the matcha pound cake with fresh cream was delicious too! Can highly recommend."
"Love everything about their matcha They use Forest Cloud Yun as the default matcha The taste is legit! I think they use 5g of matcha They make their own strawberry puree and taro. Will repeat if I come again!"
"Located at the heart of Gaya Street, mizumizu coffee has a nice, chill ambience reminiscent of a small Japanese-style café. We visited on Saturday morning, 24/01/26. The menu is simple, this is the place to get your coffee fix along with some bite-sized cakes. Their coffee and tea selections are solid. You can order from the window outside or sit inside, though indoor seating is quite limited. Since it was our first time, we tried several options: Iced Latte, Iced Matcha Rose Latte, Orange Cold Brew, Filtered Coffee and a slice of Blueberry Cheesecake. The drinks were fantastic. The Iced Matcha Rose Latte that I ordered was astounding. For someone who doesn’t usually enjoy matcha, the drink was incredibly smooth, without the usual bitterness matcha tends to have. It had a balanced sweetness, a light floral note from the rose and the flower garnish on top was a nice touch. The Orange Cold Brew was strong, the cold brew hits first, followed by a sharp mandarin kick that really wakes you up. The cheesecake was nice too, not overly sweet and easy to enjoy. The ambience is good, though the café is small, so it’s more suitable for a smaller group. Overall, really recommended for their coffee. The prices are surprisingly affordable compared to most coffee places."
"Matcha latte tasted so good! Rm15 Not too bitter and it was smooth. Love it! The only downside is the cafe is small and might not have enough seat for bigger group gathering."
"I had such a lovely time at this café! Their matcha was incredibly smooth with a rich, good taste that really stood out I got the rose matcha its very tasty and the rose aroma was not too overpowering which is nice. The cakes were delicious, light yet flavorful, and the pastries were just as delightful – fresh, buttery, and well-made. On top of that, the atmosphere was stunning and so cozy, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a treat. Definitely a spot I’d love to come back to again!"
"Good place to avoid the heat. We tried the Hojicha latte, Mandarin orange espresso, and matcha strawberry latte. All were good, especially the matcha and hojicha had a really deep flavour. Not a big place, recommended to come in smaller groups."
